Actually quite light for a cask strength and for a Lagavulin |
|
Some salt mostly grassy. Definitely the little brother |
Most like the 16 here. Perhaps a herald of the direction of further maturation |
I much prefer the 16 which is the queen of single malts. Lagavulin is best served in the marketplace by staying with premium expressions rather than going for the 12 year price point. |

An old leather bound book |
Too many options come to mind |
For my tongue a gorgeous marriage of oil, butter, and pepper. None overpowering. |

Sweet and honey, light pepper, sea mist |
Warm and gentle |
Very contemplative single malt--all Lagavulin, yet not so bold as the 16 year old. An immediate favorite. |

Awesome nose |

Delicious. These people know what they're doing. |
More age will bring a better finish. |
Lighter than your typical Lagavulin 16. Plays very mature. |

Has the Lagavulin smoke but is muted. Has sweetness, honey. |
|
Subdued Lagavulin smoke. Very drinkable. More than the standard 16. |
Nice and smooth. Calm. Like a hang glide...down. |
Enjoying it very, very much. |

Saltiness and sweetness. Softer palate. |
Smoky, peppery, a couple of minutes long. A little bit of heat. |
Nose is the most exceptional part of the Lagavulin DE. Appreciate the retail ready-access to Lagavulin DEs. |
